Red Hot!

I just officially turned Red Hat... actually, am using Fedora Core 2 for my laptop and am finding it very addictive.... the downloads though is really starting to annoy me as it is taking a freaking long time to download. Nevertheless, i think it will be staying with me for a while... a long while.

A Quickie

I wish I had, but it has been a long dry spell. Nevertheless, don't expect a juicy tale about me-sexcapades. This is just a quick note that I am currently doing a training right now. Interesting. Very Interesting.

End of The Week - El Fin de Semana

It is 2:20AM and am getting ready to pack my laptop, some reading material that needs to be done over the weekend and I realize I am taking home some more work. Not that I am particularly happy about it but then again, what needs to be done... Le mantendré fijado todo en qué sucede durante el fin de semana. Necesito ahora dormir. Véale la semana próxima.

Yasser Arafat (x)

The US and Israel calls him a terrorist. I wonder. No, this is not to justify his actions, or give my two cents worth of journalism in a topic that's already becoming common fodder in cnn, bbc, channelnewsasia etc.. (Yasser Arafat died Thursday, November 11, 2004 3:30AM in Paris, France) I just happened to get a peek on his life for the past weeks, months and the days prior to his death and I wonder why a man labeled as a terrorist has eyes that speak so much of pain and sorrow, but not the cold madness that one usually expects from a "terrorist". Was he a victim of circumstances and a system that kept him trapped not just by Israel but among his own people? In the end, God only can give his soul rest and peace, I can only wish the same for Palestine and Israel. ps. (There is an interesting timeline that traces his life published in cnn. Click here to view the details. Use your own discretion in analyzing the data presented.)

Respect All Animals - Oommmmm....

Buddhists absolutely hate the idea of killing a poor animal for food. I mean I understand it when they give *icks* and *yucks* when I propose the idea of getting all the stray dogs that litter the streets and just export them to Korea (believe me, I got some murderous looks when I volunteered the idea in a discussion... in the middle of a meal. Then again, they are ok to "murder " me when they hate the idea of killing an animal... really now...) I can't even begin to start counting the benefits of making such a move and will reserve it in another entry. But the whole theme of this entry is Respect All Animals *ooohhhhmmmmmm* Ok, ok... let's presume I buy into that concept. But I think we should restrict that to certain things... like, animals that run around in four feet, has fur... ok, animals that has feathers... scales? But I draw the LINE when an animal has more than four feet! (read: INSECTS) I was having a discussion with Gaya (a former staff and is ...

British Religion (x)

Whereas the American Religion entry is a joke, this one should be treated with rather serious implications. An online article in BBC is headlined: Navy approves first ever Satanist A quote from the article read: "The path to Satan The Church of Satan was established in San Francisco in 1966. Mr LaVey was its high priest until his death in 1997. Followers live by the Nine Satanic Statements, which include "Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence", "Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek" and "Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification"." There is a limit to tolerance and outright condemnation, if the world allows this, we are setting the precedents of a movement that advocates going against God. In fast developing countries they have banned teaching of religion or concepts of faith in classrooms in the name of liberal bullshit. Now they a...

Very Secret Diaries - Saruman the White

Just a follow up entry... am copying one of the V.S.Diaries from Saruman the White... The Very Secret Diary of Saruman the White By: Cassandra Claire Dedicated to whoever bought me a paid LJ account. I thank you, oh silent benefactor. That was awfully nice. DAY ONE Am bored. No cable in Isengard. Nothing to do but write rude anonymous letters to Radagast the Brown and Manfred the Slightly Ecru. Perhaps will have a look at the palantir. DAY TWO Have met v. nice guy via palantir. He seems to really like me for me and not just because am most powerful wizard in Middle Earth. Wonder what he looks like. DAY THREE Am becoming disenchanted with palantir guy. Refuses to send me photo, except of one v. large eyeball. Says he is shy but I rather suspect he is fat, or perhaps hairy. Have heard some v. bad stories about palantir relationships. Should probably cool it for a while. DAY SEVEN Well, wouldn't you know, palantir guy turned out to be Dark Lor...

The VERY SECRET Diaries - Lord of The Rings

I got some really rude stares and obscene mutterings underneath exasperated breaths while watching Lord of The Rings - The Two Towers. I mean I can't help bursting out in laughter or a loud chuckle in very "serious" scenes involving Merry, Pippin, Sam, Froddo and the rest of the characters. Blame it on one person. Cassandra Claire is her name and she has written some of the funniest parodies of the Lord of the Rings series. I actually got the series in an email and decided to research who the brilliant mind was behind this seriously funny stuff. I think I may have to sue her for computer damage after I burst out my orange juice on my keyboard, the front of my shirt, my monitor... uh... you get the picture. In any case, the live series continues to grow and you can check out her live journal in http://www.livejournal.com/users/cassieclaire In the VERY SECRET diaries, she takes us deep into the perverted minds of the characters as they obsess about their beard...

Free Education (x)

MIT OpenCourseWare There really is no such thing as free education - but with the right connection (read: internet) you can actually do some self study in one of the best university in the US - the Massachusets Institure of Technology, or more commonly referred to as MIT. The OpenCourseWare (http://ocw.mit.edu) provides online material for courses that is freely available to the public. They have some simple text based courses (for those with low bandwith) and some with multi-media enhanced material using streaming video etc. etc. - Seriously, I'd love to quote the write up in the site but I don't have the patience to read their legal terms blah(2x) and am not sure if I am allowed to quote from their site... but am pretty sure they do -- with certain restrictions of course. Here is a listing of the Departments that offers their courses online. Aeronautics and Astronautics Linguistics and Philosophy Anthropology Literature Architecture Materials...

Warning Signs

This is definitely not an end-of-the-world blog entry. Am literally talking about signs, posters, billboards that you see around you. I was going up to my office using the service elevator when it paused on the 3rd floor of the building... a sign was posted on the door leading into one of the office: WARNING: Door Will Open! I couldn't stop myself from laughing out loud. *Chuckle*

Children of a Lesser God (x)

With so much suffering around us we tend to get desensitized, to feel apathy for the plight of the world. I was on my way home from the gym in a bus when it happened to pause in front of a closed up, boarded restaurant, its front littered with garbage - apparently it has closed up for a while and beggars have come to take up residence in its shelter. I turned away as it is a common sight but I heard a faint cry coming from one section of the place and I looked at an infant staring at me, small bits of crumb falling from his lips. His tiny fingers held the bread as he stared at me, eyes wide and dull. Just as quickly he lost interest and started to struggle again from the arms of his mother who was trying to feed him the bread... the crying out continued. I cast my eyes down as I felt my heart breaking. I wanted to step down and give some money to the mother but that moment of hesitation gave me no time as the bus rumbled to life and moved on. The guilt still lives within my heart...

Management Parables

Image
The content of this post is part of an email forwarded by a friend of a friend of a friend... you get the picture. In any case, just wanted to publish it as part of my blog as I certainly believe that it clearly elucidates my own management philosophies: Parable Number 1: The Crow and the Rabbit A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A small rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not." So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it. Management Lesson: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up. Parable Number 2: The Bull and the Turkey A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't...

Miss Playing With My Pussy

Image
You know when kids grow up they all fly away and leave home to see the world?!?!? Well my goddam cat also is all grown and wanting to see the world! Late last week he went missing then showed up the next day... then he's been missing since Thursday night too.... I dunno, he probably found a gupchick somewhere and went off with her. Lucky pussy.... errr... lucky cat .

American Religion

A new breed of Americans have an almighty god that they serve night and day, muttering the god's name every other sentence or so. No, it is definitely not George Bush - then again, it might be another name for that other "god". How many times have we heard the words... "Holy Shit" - the common name of their god, "Shit" or the more ancient name "Feces" "Holy Crap" - another name for their god "No Shit!" - a former believer and currently an atheist. "Bullshit!" - a Hindu sect of the religion that mixed the worship of cows with shit "Damned Shit!" - blasphemous utterings of a disappointed believer In related news, a break away sect is starting with the intent of promoting bodily pleasure as the main mantra of the group. It is very similar to the Shit Sect and uses "Fuck" as another name for their god. "Holy Fuck!" indeed.

Muff Tales

Image
Just for posterity sake... am recording the fact that President Muff... errr Bush got re-elected as President of America. Four more years of entertainment for the rest of the world.
