ginataang tinola

if it ain't broke, don't fix it. then again, when people challenge commonly thought notions you have out of the box thinkers, people that pave the way for newer things to happen. admittedly, some end up as a horrible disaster but there is that one chance that something may just turn out right. ask anyone and the standard "tinolang manok" recipe would be a hearty soup of green papaya and malunggay mixed with chicken pieces and flavored with garlic, patis, salt, and pepper. A generous portion of ginger is used to infuse the clear broth with an aromatic fragrance. variations will use sayote, otherwise known as chayote squash instead of the green papaya and malunggay is replaced with chili leaves. to give the broth more of a lemon twist, people use tanglad (lemon grass) together with the ginger. apparently, kuls is taking the common chicken tinola to the next gustatory level by using kangkong instead of manlunggay. surprisingly, i found chunks of red bell pepper ...

feeling like a goat

i got to the office and before heading in i grabbed my lunch. i was kind of sick getting the humba or pork belly every day so i decided to order a salad in kul's. not exactly vegetarian as it had some grilled chicken on top. i tried to enjoy each bite but who am i kidding? i'm not a field grazer, i'm no goat but i do have the goattee.

I'm a Loser!

Weight loser that is. Got myself into a wager to lose ten pounds in a month's time (tick tock). okay make that 27 days from now (tick tock). i'm still figuring out how to do that while contemplating the reality that i can't have my food binge. i hate you boneless crispy pata cutlets (Kuls Kitchen) goodbye Spicy Thai Chiken Wings! (Kuls Kitchen) begone you oh-so-delicious grape slush (Kuls Kitchen) if you're not on a diet, i suggest you head off to kul's kitchen in IT park and order these dishes. then come back here and tempt me with your experience. sigh.

Kul's Kitchen just opened and there was hardly any people coming in. The hardest part of choosing a restaurant is that you despise going into a full packed restaurant but you also hesitate to go into one that's almost "empty". i decided to take a gamble and am glad i made that choice. the word Kul is a literal translation of the Hindi word that means "Home". That makes the restaurant serve home-cooked meals, just about the description ev...
