what's the common thing between hoteliers from crimson by way of santa mesa manila, an ozamis native of hilton, the artistic vibes of hinigaran negros occidental from radisson blue, a manileno writer from peopleasia and an imported iloilo native doing hr services and training for the bpo industry have in common? an orgy of delicious food parading in front of us in Tsim Sha Tsui. And I don't mean the road in kowloon, hoooong kong, somewhere nearer in Ayala Terraces is the cebu franchise of the same restaurant that has taken the next level in dimsum buffet. imagine an assorted of dimsum and dumplings set on a conveyor belt that goes round and round. take a deep breath until you feel light in the head after an overdose of vetsin and feast your eyes on this set... tofu stuffed with meat, fried and steamed. the steaming process softens the fried tofu. tasty with a black bean sauce that gives it that salty ooomph! beef balls, nope, this is not soup no. 5 made into du...

if you're on a food trip for delicious maki mi then head off to the Sykes building along F. Cabahug and visit Golden Bowl. For Php 75 they serve a humongous bowl of maki topped with generous fried pork cutlets. This one i shared with my best friend and got myself an order of Pork Humba for 80 pesos. pork humba The restaurant serve other dishes ala carte but these two dishes are personal favorites. I have a peculiar habit of picking out craving-dishes in every restaurant and when the urge strikes expect me to drive halfway across town to have a meal. They don't call it Food Trip for no reason. Just like the fried chicken of Apurado , the Beef Ribs of Casa Verde , Binagoongan Pork of Quaddro, Sizzling Pochero of Abuhan and Grilled Pork Belly of Lola Eats, maki mi satisfies my craving for noodle soup. shhhlurp it up! namit! maki mi if you're like me, i suggest you ask for chili oil to spice up the soup. condiments is what completes a chinese meal. side note, ketchup and siop...

Bowled in Red - Food Trip!

Image
venci called up saturday night for a dinner invitation. good finds are usually tucked away in the most unexpected location, labangon is not exactly known for its selection of good restaurants as it is mostly industrial and residential. red bowl is literally a box, tucked in a building with parking set close by on a vacant lot. done in yellows and reds, the restaurant resembled a jollibee or mc donalds fastfood joint. that's where the similarity ends. although red bowl serves set meals, they specialize in ala carte dishes - food meant to be shared. the menu is an interesting mix as they serve an extensive selection of standard chinese dishes but threw in popular filipino viands (barbecues, kinilaw, lechon kawali, crispy pata, sizzling pochero, sizzling sisig etc). more importantly, dishes are served fast, hot, delicious and very reasonably priced. the food we ordered (chowpatchin, steamed fish in soy sauce, yang chow fried rice and spareribs) was served hot in less than ten minutes....

i've done the rounds of buffets in the city: from the international selection of Tides Shangri-la Mactan to Indian or Barbecue Themed Marriott spreads (thanks to Moi!), to the more recent choices from El Viento of Marco Polo or the enormous breakfast spread in Waterfront. The Great Majestic Buffet. Laaaami ah! there's only ONE place i haven't added to my list of buffet must-try: The Grand Majestic . with the exception of Marriott that regularly serve themed buffets, all the other places offer a selection of international dishes. Grand Majestic is anything and everything chinese. click on read more for hunger-inducing pictures! Scallops Dumpling, seasoned perfectly with chili paste, ginger, lemon and soy sauce. Jelly Fish Salad, tossed in vinegar, pimiento strips and garnished with sesame seeds. I love this dish with century eggs!
